Roberta Willeford is an emerging Houston-based visual artist whose work centers around the inspiration in natural forms and colors, providing a visual platform upon which to express her fascination with living connections. Drawing upon the palettes of nature, her art is influenced by her life experiences, family and faith, blending media such as painting, cyanotype, printmaking, and fibers in a journey of discovery. She uses traditional media, but relishes experimentation with their application and processes. Paint on cyanotype, fibers stitched within monoprint collage, pastels on roofing paper. Her saturated color schemes, from nature’s palette resonate with anyone who has ever stepped outside to escape a desk or computer screen. Capturing movement and life with the strokes of pencil, pen or brush gives her a deep satisfaction and pride. Roberta's art has been shaped by a willingness to take risks for creative expression. She creates art reflecting her belief that the beauty of nature can inspire us to live our lives in deeper connection with the world around us.
Roberta was drawn to the arts from a young age born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Family relocation to Houston, Texas in grade school gave her the opportunity to focus on building artistic skills. Working during high school, and college, while beginning her own family, demonstrated that regardless of situational hardships, goals can be achieved through research, planning and perseverance.
Roberta Willeford’s artistic intent is to explore and discover as a lifelong learner and lover of art. Giving a personal voice to her unique perspective on this journey.
